The Ghana Institute of Planners is the home of planning in Ghana. Since its inception in 1969, the Ghana Institute of Planners has come to represent 270 members of the planning profession, albeit in physical and urban planning, economic and regional planning, social and policy planning, transportation and planning research.

The Institute delivers the following services to its members; Advocacy, networking opportunities, training, planning related news and events.

The Institute was formally founded upon the acceptance and adoption of the governing constitution on 28th Day of March 1969 at the conference Hall of the State House, Accra.
